ERTICO News: China ITS conference gives push to Europe-China cooperation

The 4th China Annual Conference on ITS was held in Qingdao on 26 & 27 September 2008. Vincent Blervaque, Director Development and Deployment at ERTICO, delivered three presentations. The main objective of the visit and participation in the conference was to promote cooperation between Europe and China for the development and deployment of ITS in both regions. Furthermore, the aim was to lend support to on-going cooperation activities such as SIMBA2 and MODIBEC, as well as exploring priorities for future cooperation.
The conference was opened by the Vice-Mayor of Qingdao, Mr Hui Zhang, and ITS China representatives Mr. Zhongze Wu (Vice Minister of Science and Technology/ Chair of ITS China), and Mr. Xiaojing Wang (Vice Chairman of ITS China).
At the Plenary Session, Mr Blervaque gave an overview of the status of ITS development and deployment activities in Europe. Later in the same session, he presented the plans for the 16th ITS World Congress, which will take place in Stockholm on 21-25 September 2009. Of particular interest to ERTICO was the Safety Session, in which Mr Blervaque informed attendees on the eSafety Forum and its latest activities.
