ERTICO News: ERTICO’s Public Authorities Platform meets in Paris

The meeting was held in the spectacular Arche de la Défense in Paris, hosted by ERTICO – ITS Europe Partner, the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning. Pascale Buchs, Deputy Director of the Interministerial Delegation for Road Safety in France, gave a very interesting introductory presentation on the status of ITS in France, explaining that road safety has been a top priority in France since 2002 and there had been a dramatic decrease in the number of fatalities and injuries since 2003 when RADAR units started to be installed.
The meeting went on to discuss current and future ERTICO activities and the Public Authorities role within them. In addition Mrs Lundgren from the Swedish Road Administration gave an insight into the project Easyway with its objectives of identifying ITS services and providing guidelines for deployment of these services. Participants gave updates on the latest ITS developments in their countries and also discussed further involvement of the Public Authorities in the area of cooperative mobility.
During the afternoon, members of ITS France gave presentations on E-call – looking at the services developed by PSA as well as new projects developed by IMA and ITS actions developed by ASFA (association of the highways operating companies). Bernard Basset, President of ITS-France, gave an overview of the national association’s activities.
