Partner News: Cobra Automotive Technologies joins ERTICO

ERTICO is very pleased to announce Cobra Automotive Technologies SpA as a new Partner in the industry sector.  They recognise that being a member of ERTICO will facilitate their involvement in ITS international cooperation activities. Cobra Automotive Technologies SpA, based in Varese, Italy, is the parent company of the Cobra Group, a leader in the field of security solutions for vehicles, designing and manufacturing electronic equipment and supplying services to deal with a variety of risks related to vehicles, like theft, hi-jack, frauds and low speed manoeuvres.

The Group develops, manufactures and sells electronic systems that include anti-theft systems, anti-theft components and parking aid systems. In addition, with a unique integration of geo-positioning technologies and electronic systems, the Groups offers several location based services, including stolen vehicle recovery services at a pan-European level and Smart Insurance services for the customization of policies.

Founded in 1975, Cobra is partner to the main European and Asian vehicle and motorbike manufacturers, for whom it develops solutions integrated in the original equipment.  Cobra has two development bases in Italy and France. Cobra Automotive Technologies SpA designs electronic systems in Varese, and Cobra Telematics Development SA develops computer software for the provision of location based services in Sophia Antipolis. In addition, the Group has direct operations in Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain and UK, as well as in Japan and China. The branch in Beijing will soon integrate an R&D Department and new production facilities to support the business in the Far East.

Since February 2007, the new Advanced Product Concepts (APC) Department leads the Group's Research and Innovation activities. The APC also aims at making Cobra more visible on the European scientific and technological scene, as well as to promote its commitment, as a global company, for Innovation.
