Partner News: Orange and Mediamobile join forces

The cooperation between Mediamobile, the leader in real-time traffic information and ERTICO-Partner Orange, the French telephone operator, which began 8 years ago, now takes on a new dimension.

The two companies have joined forces to enrich the real-time traffic information with data coming from the mobile network. Orange has an extremely dense network which enables seamless mobile communication for voice and data. This same network is used to feed-back information linked to mobile movement in a given zone. The density of mobiles in this zone allows the calculation of travel speed. Orange’s sophisticated technology produces real time traffic information from this data.

This new information flow complements Mediamobile’s data collection and improves the information already provided through other sources (States, highways companies, cities…) and produces information on a network as yet not covered.

The results of this partnership will be incorporated into V-Trafic’s services by early 2009. Hence all users of V-Trafic will benefit from this improved information service.
