Partner News: Wavecom and EDMI launch advanced AMM in Australia and New Zealand
Date: 26 June 2008
ERTICO Partner Wavecom SA (NASDAQ: WVCM ; Eurolist AVM) on 17 June announced the collaboration with EDMI Limited (Singapore Exchange: EDMI) to launch the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) in Australia and New Zealand markets.
As the utility industry continues to look for solutions that reduce both labour and high maintenance costs of metering, AMI solves this issue by efficiently managing meters remotely, at the same time helping with load and energy management. EDMI, a leading manufacturer of AMI systems, partners with Wavecom, a leader in industrial wireless technology to offer a complete, cost effective solution for the AMI market in Oceania.
EDMI Ltd., headquartered in Singapore, has chosen Wavecom’s Wireless CPU to use in its advanced MK10 and MK7 electronic energy meter to provide a wireless AMM solution for a leading utility in New Zealand. The 1st phase will involve rolling out 55,000 EDMI meters with Wavecom-based wireless technology.
“There is a growing demand for AMM systems and we have chosen to partner with Wavecom who offers us a competitive and reliable wireless solution to be integrated to our product. The reason we are working with Wavecom is not only for their expertise in wireless but also the high reliability of their product which gives us confidence when doing massive roll-outs.” said Jimmy Chin, Executive Director of EDMI.
Didier Dutronc, President, Wavecom Asia-Pacific, Ltd said, “EDMI has been working with Wavecom for a long time and we are delighted to have won this business in New Zealand. Combining Wavecom’s advanced wireless technology with EDMI’s leading meter management; we have a field-proven solution that has been rolled-out in many countries. He added, “This represents just one more step for Wavecom to become the leading supplier to Automatic Meter Management solutions in the APAC region.”
