Project News: FOT-Net organises first stakeholder’s workshop
Date: 11 July 2008
Field Operational Tests (FOT) consists of a comprehensive research programme to assess the impact of ICT systems on driver behaviour, both in terms of individual (safety) benefits and larger scale socio-economic benefits. These tests have mostly been carried out at the national level in the past, but there is now a growing need to incorporate FOTs into a common European framework. The ERTICO co-ordinated FOT-Net project’s primary objective is to establish a platform for knowledge exchange and for strategic networking of existing and future National, European and international FOTs (e.g. US and Japan), and to let individual FOTs benefit from each others’ learning experiences.
Open to all stakeholders from public and private sectors, the FOT-Net networking platform will provide a benchmarking overview of the socio-economic potential of ICT based functions and systems for road transport all over Europe. The project will also contribute to improve significance, visibility, comparability and transferability of available FOT results at the National and European level by promoting the implementation of a common European FOT methodology: The FESTA results.
All stakeholder groups that play or will play an active and relevant role in existing and future National, European and Global FOTs should be involved in this important initiative.
First Stakeholder Workshop
When? On 25 September 2008
Where? In Brussels, at ERTICO-ITS Europe premises, Avenue Louise 236, 1050 Brussels.
